Becca & Matt’s wedding at The Wellington Arms in Hook, Hampshire was a fantastic celebration and a great example of how beautiful wedding photography can be created close to home.

Located just outside Basingstoke, The Wellington Arms offers a relaxed setting for weddings, with a mixture of characterful spaces and outdoor areas that work beautifully for photography.

As a Basingstoke-based wedding photographer, I regularly photograph weddings across Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey, so photographing a wedding at The Wellington Arms is always a pleasure.

Wedding Photography at The Wellington Arms

One of the things I enjoy about The Wellington Arms is having everything in one location. From getting ready and the ceremony through to the reception and evening celebrations, the day can flow naturally without needing to travel between different venues.

This also gives plenty of opportunities for natural and documentary wedding photography throughout the day.

My approach is relaxed and unobtrusive. Rather than turning the wedding into a long series of posed photographs, I prefer to let things happen naturally and capture the genuine moments between couples, friends and family.

I'll provide some direction for family photographs and couple portraits, but I always aim to keep these sessions relaxed and relatively short.

Natural Wedding Photography in Hampshire

For me, the best wedding galleries are the ones that tell the complete story of the day.

That means photographing all the little moments alongside the big ones — getting ready, guests arriving, the ceremony, drinks reception, speeches, dancing and everything that happens in between.

I also like to make time for a small selection of couple portraits. These give us an opportunity to create some more considered photographs while giving the couple a few minutes together away from the main celebrations.

The Wellington Arms provides a variety of settings for these photographs, making it possible to create a gallery with plenty of variety without needing to leave the venue.
