I had the pleasure of photographing Jo & Andrew’s Christmas wedding at Ufton Court in Reading, Berkshire. With the venue beautifully suited to a winter celebration, their December wedding had all the charm of a Christmas wedding, made even better by an unusually warm day and a beautiful sunset.

As a Basingstoke-based wedding photographer, I photograph weddings across Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey, and Ufton Court is a fantastic venue for couples looking for a relaxed wedding surrounded by countryside and historic character.

A Winter Wedding at Ufton Court

Ufton Court is particularly well suited to Christmas and winter weddings. The historic buildings and surrounding grounds provide plenty of atmosphere, while the venue offers lots of opportunities for photographs throughout the day.

Jo and Andrew were lucky enough to have a surprisingly warm December day, making it possible to enjoy the outdoor areas of Ufton Court without the usual winter chill.

The highlight for me was the beautiful December sunset. Winter sunsets can be particularly special for wedding photography, with the lower position of the sun creating beautiful, warm light. It provided the perfect opportunity to take some relaxed portraits of Jo and Andrew and make the most of the surroundings.

Natural & Documentary Wedding Photography

My approach to wedding photography is relaxed and documentary-led. I want couples to spend their wedding day enjoying themselves rather than feeling like they're constantly being photographed.

I'll provide some gentle direction when needed for portraits and family photographs, but much of the day is captured naturally as it happens.

For me, the aim is to create a collection of photographs that brings back the atmosphere of the entire day — from the ceremony and celebrations through to the evening party.
