I had the pleasure of photographing Tae & Joe’s wedding at Ufton Court in Reading, Berkshire. Set within beautiful countryside just outside Reading, Ufton Court is a fantastic wedding venue for couples looking for a relaxed setting with plenty of character and opportunities for natural wedding photography.

As a Basingstoke-based wedding photographer, I photograph weddings throughout Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey, and Ufton Court is one of the venues I particularly enjoy working at.

Wedding Photography at Ufton Court

Ufton Court offers a great mix of historic buildings, gardens and countryside, providing plenty of variety for wedding photographs without needing to leave the venue.

My approach to wedding photography is predominantly documentary and natural. Rather than directing the entire day or constantly asking couples and guests to pose, I prefer to let the wedding unfold naturally and capture the moments as they happen.

Of course, there are still some photographs that need a little direction. I'll make time for family photographs and a relaxed set of portraits of the couple, but I aim to keep these parts of the day simple and enjoyable so that you can get back to celebrating with your guests.

The rest of the day is about documenting the atmosphere — from the ceremony and drinks reception through to the speeches, evening celebrations and dance floor.

A Relaxed Approach to Wedding Photography

I believe your wedding photographs should tell the story of your day rather than simply provide a collection of posed images.

The photographs that often become the most meaningful are the ones that happen naturally: a reaction during the ceremony, friends laughing together, family enjoying the reception or those little moments between the bigger events of the day.

Ufton Court works particularly well for this style of photography because there are so many different spaces and backgrounds around the venue. It allows me to photograph the day naturally while still creating a varied collection of images.
